Training Philosophy (9v9 & 11v11):
Player-centered approach: Our training is centered around the holistic development of each player, addressing their technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects.
Technical Skill Development: We prioritize enhancing the technical skills of every player withing the team environment, focusing on areas such as ball control, dribbling, passing and shooting.
Tactical Adaptation: Teams will learn the adapt and find effective solutions to various game situations, emphasizing the importance of game intelligence and decision making on the field.
Principles: Players will gain a deeper understanding of both attaching and defending principles, learning the apply them in game context.
Game Realism: Training sessions are structured to replicate game scenarios, providing players with practical experience and preparing them for the challenges they'll face on matchday.
Positive Training Environment: Coaches create a positive and supportive atmosphere during training sessions, where players feel motivated to learn, take risks and develop their skills without fear of criticism.
Games:
Games are played on Saturdays, with a few games on Sundays when reschedules occur. Teams typically have 4 home and 4 away games. Most games will be in the Denver Metro area, however, there may be games as far away as Vail, Pueblo or Cheyenne, as examples. A commitment to a team requires that you travel to ALL away games.
Trainings:
Competitive teams train three times a week at area Wheat Ridge fields.
Tournaments:
Each competitive team participates in at least 2 tournaments per year (one fall and one spring) that are developmentally appropriate for the level of the team. Most tournaments are local, but some may be out of state. The cost of the tournament is additional and is divided amongst the team.
Commitment/Attendance:
The Competitive program is a one-year commitment that runs from August to May. Players are expected to attend all trainings and games to the best of their ability. In the event that a team is not able to field a full roster for a game, they must reschedule within the season window. Avalanche does not support or accept forfeits and any fees that occur will be paid by the team.
In the off-season, players have the opportunity to participate in other optional team activities such as indoor soccer, futsal, additional tournaments and club camps/clinics.
Competitive Tryouts:
Tryouts are held week after Memorial Day.
Uniforms:
Uniform kit consists of one home jersey, one away jersey, one pair of shorts, two pairs of socks and training jersey.
